On Hwy 214 Follow Signs to Overnight Camping, follow approximately 0.7 and turn left towards horse camps, 0.10 turn left into the Howard Creek parking area, follow signage to race parking. On Google Maps, the start area is marked "Buck Mountain Trail".
Carpooling is always suggested; however, each car will need to purchase an Oregon Parks and Recreation parking pass at kiosk on the way into the race staging area or display an annual Oregon Parks and Recreation parking pass.
Overflow parking will be at the South Falls Day Use Area, approximatly 1.4 miles from the start/finish staging area.

Course Description:
The Silver Falls XC Mountain Bike Race features a course that takes racers out 1.2 miles on the Howard Creek Loop, up Smith Creek Trail, Buck Mountain Loop and Lost Creek Trail before reaching the top of the featured trail, the Catamount. After descending the Catamount Trail racers will then go down Rabbit Hole at which point short course racers will head back to the start/finish area via Howard Creek Loop and medium and long course racers will head back up Smith Creek Trail for one and two more laps, respectively, before they too head to the finish via Howard Creek Loop.

Per Oregon XC Series and OBRA guidelines, due to the reciprocal agreement between OBRA and USA Cycling Cat 1 Juniors will stage with Cat 2 14-18 on the Medium Course to allow for national ranking points from USA Cycling.
Singlespeed categories will remain on the long course due to Oregon XC Series requirements.
Event organizer reserves the right to shorten course distances based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to weather and course conditions.
Race Fees:
Pre-Registration: Adults $50.00
Race Ages 9-18 - All Categories $25.00
We'd really prefer that interested racers pre-register, especially given that the race is limited to 300 participants!
Day of Race: Adults $65.00
Race Ages 9-18 - All Categories $35.00
Day of Race Registration will close at on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 10:00am.
Day of Race Registration fees can be paid onsite via cash, check, or Venmo.
OBRA and the organizers of this race do not provide insurance coverage for injuries that occur at the race. The costs related to those injuries are the responsibility of the individual participant.
Current OBRA License will be required to participate. Single day licenses will be available on-site the day of the race for $5.00 each.
Prizes:
Prizes for the top three finishers of each category and the fastest long course finishers (Men and Women) will be awarded a cash prize of $150 each.
Salem Area Trail Alliance:
A portion of race proceeds will be donated to the Salem Area Trail Alliance (SATA), as this race wouldn’t be possible without dedication and efforts SATA puts into building and maintaining the trail network within the park. For more information about SATA, please visit www.salemtrails.org.
Volunteer:
Events like the Silver Falls XC Mountain Bike Race require a small army of volunteers to pull off. All labor for this event is volunteer, all proceeds are supporting Capitol Velo Cycling and the Salem Area Trail Alliance! We appreciate everyone that comes out to lend a hand. To sign up, click the link below and at the bottom of the registration page you'll find a category for volunteers. Select that category and check out. You'll have a couple waivers to acknowledge and questions to answer and we'll be off to the races.
